Emad Azmy studied engineering before joining Egypt’s largest construction group, The Arab Contractors, in 1975 where he worked on some of the nation’s most sensitive and complex infrastructure projects. A decade later, prompted by an invitation from a friend, he took his first flight out of his home country to Dubai, where he eventually founded ASGC in 1989. Starting from humble beginnings, the company grew to employ thousands of people and win contracts worth billions of dollars.

Bishoy Azmy is the CEO of ASGC Group, a Dubai-based construction group with over 18,000 employees and an annual turnover exceeding $1 billion.
Originally hailing from Egypt, Bishoy Azmy grew up in Dubai, left to pursue his higher education, and came back to join the family business in 2002. He grew the business to become the preeminent real estate and construction provider in Dubai, and was involved in some of the most iconic developments in the city, from the world’s busiest international airport, Dubai International, and the world’s largest indoor shopping mall, Dubai Mall, to the national museum of the country, Etihad Museum, and the Middle East’s largest indoor entertainment venue, the Coca Cola Arena. He also spearheaded the company’s design-build approach (often including financing) to residential and mixed-use communities such as The Greens by Emaar, Jumeirah Beach Residence by Dubai Properties, and Citywalk and Bluewaters by Meraas, leading to the creation of thousands of modern, efficient and enjoyable living spaces over the last decade.
Bishoy Azmy graduated from the American University in Cairo with a BSc in Construction Engineering. He also holds an EMBA from London Business School, UK, and a Masters in International Construction Management from the University of Bath, UK.
Bishoy Azmy is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and sits on the board of his local Emirates chapter. He is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has recently joined the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, The American University in Cairo. He is engaged in various community initiatives and lives in Dubai with his wife and their two sons.

Ibrahim Salib grew up and studied in Egypt. A diligent honours student throughout his schooling, he graduated with a degree in engineering in 1993. After joining the largest construction company in the Middle East at the time, and working there successfully for years, he pursued entrepreneurship, starting his own small contracting outfit. In 2002 an old friend reached out and encouraged him to make the move to the UAE and join ASGC in Dubai.
Ibrahim Salib and ASGC founder, Emad Azmy, quickly developed a strong personal relationship, akin to father and son. Emad Azmy witnessed as Ibrahim Salib handled increasing responsibilities with great success, first acting as Project Manager on a 1000-unit residential development known as ‘The Golden Mile;’ then as Project Director to the first Waldorf Astoria hotel outside of New York City, developed on Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai; and then on yet another mega residential development “Bluewaters residences” on an another artificial island named Bluewaters Island, off the coast of Dubai. He was then promoted to General Manager for the company’s Oil & Gas division in Abu Dhabi, running several projects in the challenging Arabian Desert with success.
When his family decided to migrate to Canada, Ibrahim Salib initially continued working with ASGC, commuting back and forth to Dubai, but eventually the Azmy family saw the opportunity to set up a new business in Canada with Ibrahim Salib at its helm, and that’s how Maplelands was born.
Ibrahim Salib is holding a Master Degree in Construction Project Management from Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, Scotland and recently he became a graduate of the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He lives with his wife and two children in Oakville, Ontario.
