Maplelands is thrilled to announce our charity partners, Hold’em For Life, raised $3.24 million at the 16th annual Hold’em For Life Charity Challenge. On October 13th, leaders from across Toronto’s business and development worlds gathered at the Fairmount Royal York hotel for a Texas Hold’em tournament in support of cancer research. Tickets started at $2,500; attendees included C-suite and high-ranking executives; and support was strong.

In addition to raising more than $3 million for the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine’s nine associated teaching hospitals, Hold’em For Life also created a new $4 million fund to aid fellows in finding a cure for brain and urology cancer. This move is an extension of the Hold’em For Life Fellowship program, established in 2019 by UofT’s Faculty of Medicine and the city’s top teaching hospitals. Since then, Hold’em has been sponsoring 40 fellows per year, contributing to fund half of their $100,000 annual salaries.

This record-breaking event is yet another example of our partner’s dedication to a global cause. The Hold’em For Life Charity Challenge has raised more than $40 million for cancer research since 2006, for hospitals and fellows alike.
